RAVENNA FESTIVAL 2025
An appointment which in early summer, since 1990, is repeated every year in Ravenna.
Ravenna Festival is one of the most acclaimed festivals in Europe and involves some of the greatest conductors and famous artists of our time such as the "Maestro" Riccardo Muti, who always participates in some of its events, Pierre Boulez, Yuri Temirkanov, Zubin Mehta; composers such as Steve Reich, Michael Nyman, Arvo Pärt; Alessandra Ferri (étoiles ballet), Roberto Bolle and Svetlana Zakharova; dance companies such as the Mariinsky Theatre, Bill T. Jones, Martha Graham and the Hamburg Ballet; directors such as Robert Wilson and Peter Stein; stars of the jazz scene such as Keith Jarrett and Herbie Hancock; soloists such as Martha Argerich, Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, and popular artists like Burt Bacharach, Lou Reed, and many others.
The Festival is dedicated to various kinds of music as symphonic music, chamber music, opera, theater, dance and world music, that makes the event open to a wide variety of audiences.
Another feature of Ravenna Festival regards the choice of "location" where the shows are held such as the Teatro Alighieri, the spectacular Byzantine churches, cloisters and squares of the city, but also the natural landscape of pine forest and the industrial-archaeological site of the "Darsena".
Each year the Artistic Direction plans a variety of events that revolve around a significant theme from a cultural and artistic point of view.
